First sign of this years summer

Sunday 7th May; Throughout all our years of flying and crewing with our little team of friends and family not once had we managed to lay out the balloon, fly and retrieve just the four of us; today was that day. Dad flew Shane and I for our first flight of 2017 and mum retrieved in the jeep. That's one for the record books.

Flew: Moss road > Lavey side of Maghera

I think I see another license in the foreseeable future..

Maghera

Second flight of the day

It's an achievement to get the perfect flying conditions for one flight in the day but to hit gold and get two flights in the bag is just a sign of ridiculously good weather. We were blessed with 12 days of unbelievably good weather although everyday wasn't suitable for flying with the wind speeds too fast we managed to squeeze in four flights during that time.

Flew: Draperstown > Moneymore

You begin to appreciate huge cut fields when your looking for one to land in, we found this stunning field that had a gentile hill with one beautiful tree standing alone in the middle (or as Gerard says, a hand-break). When the weather breaks and you hear rain on the window as if it's the middle of November it makes me want to relive this day over and over again.

The Berry picker crew, over and out until the next spell of good weather.
